SILIGURI :- After Ashutosh College in Kolkata, this time it is Siliguri College. Two popular cartoon characters Doraemon and Shin Chan got a place in the initial merit list. According to college sources, a preliminary merit list was prepared for admission in Siliguri College. That list included two popular cartoon characters, Doraemon and Shin Chan. However, those two names did not get a place in the final merit list. According to the Siliguri College authorities, the two names were omitted during the final merit list.

It is to be mentioned that a few days ago, Sunny Leone's name got a place in the merit list of Ashutosh College, Kolkata. The issue went viral on social media, sparking a storm of criticism across the state. Besides, Bollywood singer Neha Kakkar's name came up in the merit list of Malda Manikchak College. This time a similar incident took place in Siliguri. Doraemon and Shin Chan got places in the merit list. Although that is on the initial list.

Dr Sujit Kumar Das, principal of Siliguri College, said, "We see those fake names in the preliminary list. That's when the names are dropped from the merit list. Then the final merit list has been published. Those who are doing these things need to be punished. See how these names came about. I will lodge a written complaint in this regard with the police station. Someone or something is doing this to discredit the colleges that have been selectively named. This is undermining the quality of the college.
