Dead Elephant rescued in Dudumari
The elephant death happened again in Dooars. The elephant carcass was found near the locality in the Dudumari slum area of Banarhat on Friday.
According to local sources, a herd of about 20 elephants was spotted in the area on Thursday evening. Earlier in the day, the group was seen going towards the forest through that area. The locals then saw the elephant carcass lying on a land next to the paddy field. Upon receiving the news, the staff of Binnaguri Range of the Wildlife Branch reached the spot. Honorary Wildlife Warden Seema Chowdhury was also present.
Binnaguri Ranger Shubhashis Roy said, "An autopsy will reveal how the elephant died." He also said, "Several elephants have died in the last one month in Dwars. We are concerned about that. "
